Vampire Hunter D, a dampeel is the
half-breed result of a union between a
vampire and a
human. The
protagonist of the story is both a vampire hunter and dampeel. This gives him enhanced strength, stamina, and the ability to heal would-be fatal wounds quickly.
The vampire nobles look down on dampeels just as they look down on humans. Note that this is somtimes spelled dhampir, but the pronunciation is similar.
