An unofficial feature in most offices in the United States. Somewhere in the office, outside of the designated kitchen/coffee room/break area, a table, desk, or cubicle will become the de fact location where food is placed. In a sufficiently large office, there may be multiple, divided by department or team.

The food is not typically provided by the company, but rather brought in by the employees. It my be a humble box of donuts or bag of candy, or baked goods that someone wants to share. It is left to be picked at over the course of the day, until it is gone, or someone decides it is no longer safe.

It is a testament to the will power and concentration of the person who is closest to the food table.
