Mark Twain is recorded as saying that he wished there was a
gender-neutral pronoun so that he could say something like: "If Mark or Penelope come to dinner then
heesh will have the cake".
It was probably meant in jest, but it's only funny because it's something we've all thought at one time or another. According to my information (ie. this very database), Spivak pronouns were intended to be serious, which is why they're not as fun.
There should be something like this: I'm sick of he/she, he/she/it, chairperson and the like, Political Correctness aside (the only good place for it, IMHO).
