Congenital hypertrichosis terminalis is a slight variation on the
genetic condition of
hypertrichosis lanuginosa, the two are definately not the same. In the latter the main
symptom is all-over body
hair growth that is
unpigmented, whereas in the
terminalis variant the hair
is pigmented.
This condition is usually assiociated with teeth defects (gingival hyperplasia).
Julia Pastrana was thought to have suffered from this condition however careful examination of the preserved remains shows it to be terminalis rather than langinosa.
