Nobody ever believes this, but my holiday on Ibiza back in 1997 was probably the quietest, most relaxing fortnight I've ever had. I suppose it helped that we were tucked away in a hotel near a tiny village in the northeast of the island, about as far away from the non-stop party fun that is Ibiza Town as is possible to get on an island which is smaller than Greater London. Additionally we went there just a month or two after Sky One had screened their first series on the antics of Brits abroad, "Ibiza Uncovered" and most people's impression of the island was that it was a den of iniquity with sex and drugs freely available on every street corner.

Away from the nightclubs of San Antonio and Ibiza Town however it's a beautiful place, with some stunning scenery and crystal clear waters. Next time you're in Ibiza and fancy a break to recharge, hire a car and go and explore some of the less touristy parts of the island, I guarantee you won't regret it.
