"The human condition in an exploding universe would not have been altered one iota if, rather than live as I have, I had done nothing but carry a rubber ice-cream cone from closet to closet,"
The plot revolves around the story of a bureaucrat named Walter F. Starbuck, a Harvard Graduate and a member of the Nixon Administration during the infamous Watergate affair. Walter ends up going to jail for his part in it. A somewhat cynical view of the people in Washington who make so many critical decisions on our behalf. It examines the economic realities of modern society as weighed in moral terms.
