loogkrung (ลูกกรุง)

"City-child or urbanite"

The first phase of modernisation or westernisation of Thai popular music.
It dates from around the time of the second world war and lasted a good 30 years before fading away in the 70s. Loogkrung music is based on western pre-rock and roll style, and commonly used rhumba, cha-cha-cha, tango etc.
