Methylamine

Methylamine is a simple primary amine with chemical formula CH₅N. In its gaseous form it is noxious and somewhat explosive, so it is usually found in hydrochloride salt or aqueous solution form.

It is used in photography, taxidermy, and is a precursor for methamphetamine, MDMA, and other drugs. Methylamine can be synthesized a number of ways, a common one is the Hofmann rearrangement, in which acetamide is used.
