Discounting the first instances of Board Skates (metal roller skate shoes screwed to flattish boards) the skateboard first appeared using clay wheels. These wheels are not what most people mean when they refer to old school wheels. Old School Skateboard Donuts are manufactured wider than modern freestyling wheels. They also tend to be stickier. The resulting smoother ride is offset by the additional weight of the set-up. Long Boards often are sold with wheels resembling old-school wheels. The primary difference is that Long Board wheels usually have the same dimensions as modern wheels, only in a larger scale. Old school wheels are a great addition to your deck, and you and your fellow pedestrians may dig the quieter sound as well.
