My Zen teacher spent many years in jail for shooting at a child molester. He told us many stories from that period of his life.

Some of the inmates were homosexual (though our Zen teacher has made it clear he was not). As such, they were often mistreated by prison officials.

One day, a new social worker was assigned to the jail. Apparently, she was rather homophobic.

She singled out one of the prisoners and asked him publicly, in front of all other inmates, and with disgust:

"I understand you're a practicing homosexual?!"

He looked her straight in the eyes, smiled, and said calmly:

"Actually, I'm quite good at it."

She never bothered him again.
