A super-duper fast network in a residence hall. Usually only 10BaseT, in the best situations you have a switched port and a good ds3 or four for access to the internet. vbns is the real reasons for resnets. Middlebrook Hall has one hell of a kick ass resnet.

ResNet can be used to refer to either a college's physical network or the department in charge of running it. In the case of Marist College, ResNet is the department charged with keeping the students connected to our lovely Token Ring.
There is also a national ResNet Conference and mailing list, consisting mostly of admins from schools around the country trading gripes and tips.
