A dangerous autoerotic practice particularly popular in middle America among adolescent males. Boys tie a scarf (hence the name "scarfing") or other long cloth or cord around their necks to restrict bloodflow to the brain (and to some extent, air to the lungs), and masturbate. This is said to result in a more intense orgasm, but not everyone who's tried it agrees. It is strongly recommended that readers "do not try this at home".
Depicted in 2001's final episode of Queer as Folk, scarfing often results in the accidental asphyxiation of its practitioners. Therefore, its more clinical name is autoerotic asphyxiation.
