you fresh green thing, opening my eyelids with delicate fingers
your hands like leaves of ivy, trembling in the wind of my presence
with eyes like cool shadows under the noonday sun of your hair
a splash of water soaking into my shirt
a bird flits from the ground up into strong grey branches
while i recline with my feet bare in awe

it still feels like winter but for your promise;
your scent is a name that i can't stop repeating
that i carry in with me when i take off my coat
that lingers after i shut the windows
a kiss of the sun i can still feel
even under these heavy blankets
