One who practices structural engineering. Structural engineers may have a 4-year degree, a masters degree, or a PhD, but all must have a license for the state(s) in which they practice. As in most engineering professions, there are "ranks" of&structural engineer. A project engineer works on basic design or analysis. A managing engineer handles the business, customer and contractual details of a project, and an engineer-in-charge oversees the entire project. Titles and duties may vary.
