Also called balsam or jewelweed, this plant is named for the fact that touching one of its ripe seedpods causes the seedpod to burst open, scattering its seeds with some force. Any of several plants of the genus Impatiens that have yellowish spurred flowers and seedpods that dehisce into five valves when mature (ripe).

Actually, this is also the name given to a very small plant common around where I grew up in Texas. I'm no botanist, so I don't know the details, but basically this little plant, when touched, would curl up its leaves and seem to shrink away from the point of contact. They were lots of fun to play with as a kid.
