Apple Computer's term for the pointing device built into their range of PowerBook notebook computers.

A flat area, measuring some 50mm x 35mm, it has no moving parts, rather allows the precise movement of the cursor on the screen by the user's fingertip inducing an electrical signal in the matrix underneath the tracking surface.

Apple was the world's first computer manufacturer to introduce this technology, which is today used by the majority of competing manufacturers.
