A nifty idea that has some currency with technologically minded historians. Basically, it involves building VR or 3-D replicas of historic sites, events, etc. For example, in an Asian Studies class we watched a videotaped tour of a virtual reproduction of the palace of Kublai Khan. It was really breathtaking, such massive grandeur. Virtual reproductions can often convey more of the scale and reality of ancient sites than crumbling old ruins that look nothing like they did in their prime.
