whispering secrets

Leaves rustling against the tent as they fell,

whispering secrets they didn't mean to tell.

Secrets are not often spoken out loud

sometimes written in small print on a folded note

or  typed onto a screen briefly,  then erased 

If you share a secret, you want it just for them

it is not something for an audience;

the opposite of an announcement

So if I lean in close

and put my lips to one ear

(close enough to place a kiss)

       I may whisper, instead
