Colm Ó Gaora (1887-1954) was an Irish-language activist, a native speaker of the language from Ros Muc, Connemara. He participated in the fight for Irish freedom and knew Patrick Pearse personally. His autobiography called Mise ("Myself") was published for the first time in 1943, and is one of the few first-hand accounts of the Anglo-Irish war written in Irish by a native speaker of the language. Ó Gaora had a vigorous style based on his native Connemara dialect. His book was reissued in 2008.
