Francis Fukuyama IS an American political commentator, and social analyst and staunch Republican, who's ideas have had significant impact on the New Right.

He was born in 1952 in Chicago, Il. He became a member of the policy planning staff for the US State Department, then he became a consultant for the Rand Corporation. As a result of an article "The End of History?", written in 1989 he rose to prominence. This was developed in 1992 to become "The End of History and the Last Man, in which he explored the concept that the history of ideas ended when liberal democracy was accepted as "the final form of human government".

In 1996 Francis Fukuyama wrote "Trust", where he claimed that the varying economic performances of different types of capitalism are linked to differences in cultural resources, or as he put it, "social capital".
