High-tech devices that don't so much serve a useful purpose as make the owner seem wealthy or tech-savvy. Examples would be webcams, PDAs (doubly so if you can access your email or the Web on it), and any wireless device besides a cell phone (Note: cell phones were technotoys only a few years ago).
