VO2 Max

I am not a physiologist nor a kinesiologist
(nor do I play one on TV). Therefore,
let me quote from
http://home.hia.no/~stephens/vo2max.htm

VO2 max is the maximum volume of oxygen consumed by the body each
minute during exercise, while breathing
air at sea level.
Because oxygen consumption is
linearly related to energy expenditure, when we measure oxygen
consumption, we are indirectly measuring an individual's maximal
capacity to do work aerobically
.

Several experiments of different types support the concept that,
in trained individuals, it is oxygen delivery, not oxygen
utilization
that limits VO2 max.

My amateur opinion is that interval training is the
best way to increase your VO2 max.
