Phrase engraved in a memorial located in
Portside Park in the
Downtown Eastside of
Vancouver, Canada.
The memorial stands in honour of the unknown number of (primarily female, largely aboriginal) sex trade workers who have been murdered and 'disappeared' while on the job. Due to the marginal nature of their employment, many of their cases have been closed due to absolutely no leads nor evidence to lead to a suspect. This memorial is a face acknowledgement of the gravity of this ongoing problem, the phrase hinting at some justice beyond this world, because for these women, their families and children, there was none on this one.
