This is another
Zen koan, but this one's my
favorite, largely because I
kind of know the
answer. Of course, I don't
really know the answer, because I personally did not
mediatate on it for
days and days until the answer
came to me; and that's the only way to
really get the answer to these things. They're
designed to be things you can't answer with your
rational mind, but rather things that you can only come to
understand the answer to.
Anyway, the
question is this:
Who is the
Great One who makes the
grass green?
Technically, to understand this, you must
sit in the grass until you
get it. I
personally would
suggest that you use the
koan as an
excuse to go sit in the grass, especially if it's a
nice day out. However, if you feel like
