A group of
widely used
industrial chemicals of the
chlorinated hydrocarbon class.
They have become
serious and
widespread pollutants,
contaminating most
food chains on
Earth, becuase they are
extremely resistant to breakdown and are subject to
bioaccumulation.
They are known to be
carcinogenic.
