In addition to the creature implied by Lewis Carroll's poem The Hunting of the Snark, it's also a movie theater in Daniel Pinkwater's The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death which shows double features, often of very obscure films. In the book, the theater provided the name for snarking out and hence the name of the book. Pinkwater's book of essays and NPR commentaries Hoboken Fish and Chicago Whistle says that Pinkwater based the Snark on Chicago's Clark Theater.
