A heroic race of Transformers from the planet Cybertron, as seen in the 1980's children's television show. Their leader was Optimus Prime, who had more patience with his warriors doing stupid things than any general I've ever heard of. Some other Autobots of note were Bumblebee, a scout who transformed into a VW Beetle; and Grimlock, a less than intelligent Dinobot with aspirations to the Autobot leadership.
