For those of you that have read the The Jesus Incident, xenofungus is basically the Alpha Centauri equivlent of electrokelp. It is a crimson red growth that is very dense, and inhabited by different forms of mind worms. All the xenofungus on the planet acts like a gigantic brain, achieving sentience for a brief period of time before being obliberated.
