Founded in
1821, The George Washington University is the largest
university in the
Washington D.C. area. The school is noted for its strong programs in
international affairs and
government. The private institution holds no religious affiliation and is currently (
2001) home to more than 19,000 students including
undergraduate and
graduate students. The school’s
Foggy Bottom campus is located in the
heart of downtown, just blocks away from the
State Department. The school’s hefty price tag however, about 36,000 dollars, after everything is counted, has kept it quite exclusive, and it is mainly attended by rich, northern,
Caucasian students.
