Rexdale is a
suburb in
Toronto located in the west end between Islington and Kipling avenues north of Rexdale
Boulevard. Rexdale was still
farmland in the
1950's when its
developer Rex Heslop began the
planning that led to the building of this
neighbourhood.
He
predicted that the completion of
Highway 401 and the creation of
jobs at the
nearby
airport would bring a strong
demand for
houses in Rexdale. His
prediction proved to be correct as the
subdivision was sold out in a relatively short period of
time between the mid 1950's and the early 1960's.
