In the
fantasy novels of
Rick Cook, a
generic term for
magical teleportation that could be performed by any
wizard with sufficient power. Wizards in the old
tradition have one spell for walking the Wizard's Way, and
Wiz Zumwalt created another one under his early
spell compiler system, later ported to the updated
WIZ-DOS. The latter is invoked with the command words, "
backslash transport, arg [name of location to transport to], exe."
Walking the Wizard's Way is generally safer than traveling overland, but carries its own dangers. Someone of malicious intent can intercept a wizard walking the Wizard's Way and divert him or her to a different location. Such a trick was used by remnants of the Dark League to kidnap Wiz and bring him to the City of Night.
