Something that the UK did right first for once. The need for the Bishoo was generated by Margaret Thatcher. The only criticism that can be raised against it is the somewhat erratic advertising policy. For instance a recent issue had a feature on the Seattle / May Day demonstrations with an ad for Starbucks on the same page. Which was pretty funny. And past issues have had adverts for charities with extremely dubious methods (such as the ALF). But apart from that the Big Issue is a good thing.
