Decorah, Iowa has a population 8,063 and is located 43.30 degrees North of the equator and 91.79 degrees West of the prime meridian Decorah was founded in the 1850s by Norwegian immigrants. It is the county seat for Winneshiek county.
Perhaps Decorah is most notable for being the home of
Luther College, a respected liberal arts institution. However, the town also boasts skiing, quaint farms and museums dedicated to the towns Norwegian heritage.
Decorah is also known for hosting a yearly Nordic Fest. This three day festival celebrates its Scandinavian heritage.
