A late 80s
television advertisement for
Kia-Ora on British TV featured an animated cartoon character walking along swigging the drink. The commercial was a moment of
inspired surrealism, as the character was followed by
Looney Tunes-style cartoon characters, notably large
crows in
zoot suits requesting a drink.
"Hey mister, can I have some of your Kia-Ora ?"
"No, it's too orangey for crows. It's just for me and my dog"
"I'll be your dog!"
Cue jingle: We all adore-a, Kia-Ora
A wonderful, insane, magnificent example of advertising at the height of the 80s yuppy boom.
