Vector Markup Language
An application of XML for embedding resizable vector graphics in web pages.
The standard was proposed by Microsoft and incorporated into Internet Explorer 5.0+
VML was not ratified by W3C.
Instead, the SVG format was chosen (although no broswers currently support it, sans plugins).
