Sandals come in two types: those you can step into and those you can't get out of.
The first kind of
sandal is the classic, descended from thousands of years of
development from all parts of the
globe. The best ones of this kind are usually
leather, and will last for many many years.
The second kind of sandal has become popular in recent years thanks to companies like
Teva and
Nike. They contain new materials, sometimes a bit of leather, and often
neoprene and
velcro. These are often sold as
extreme,
outdoor sports
shoes. They are
expensive and wear out faster than classic sandals.
I prefer the classic sandal. The newer sandals make my
feet sweat and
smell. And I have to
bend over to undo the velcro to take them off or put them on.
