Hillybilly Days is an annual
festival held in Pike County,
Kentucky.
Hillybilly Days began in 1977 when hillbilly clans from around the country converged on Pike County. Hillbilly clans are one of the numerous groups within the Shrineof North America. The purpose of Hillbilly Days is to raise money for Shriners Hospital's and burn centers.
Each year artists and craftspeople flood Pikeville, Kentucky's downtown business district to showcase their work and sell their wares. Mountain music is played as square dancing and clogging is enjoyed by all. Men, women and children attempt to outdress one another in their hillbilly finery.
On the final day of the festival a parade marches through downtown Pikeville. Horses, beauty queens, politicians, high school marching bands, antique cars and hillbilly clans all take part in the parade.
Sponsors for the 2002 Hillbilly Days include The Shrine of North America, the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, Pike County Tourism and the Hatfield and McCoy Reunion.
