Dill is also the nickname of Charles Baker Harris, a character in the Harper Lee novel "To Kill A Mockingbird". Dill is a seven-year-old boy who is sent to stay next door to the book's main character, Scout Finch, every summer. Dill is described as "a pocket merlin" because of his imagination and wild ideas. In one scene he is in bed with Scout and explains how they can get themselves a baby.
"There was a man Dill had heard of who had a boat that he rowed across to a foggy island where all these babies were; you could order one-"
