This is the same version of the
rhyme that I learned as a child, but is not in fact the original. This children's rhyme comes from the
Mother Goose series of rhymes and stories, and goes like:
Pat-a-cake
Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake
Baker's man!
Bake me a cake
As fast as you can.
Pat it, and prick it,
and mark it with a T,
Put it in the oven
For Tommy and me.
