A knock there was upon the door
Not once, but twice and three times more
He stirred, he woke and looked outside
At the small man waiting, grinning, eyes wide
Opened the door cautiousy, "hello?" he half coughed
The small man replied "I'm here with a gift"
"A gift for me? I seriously think not
For there is no-one i know who cares one
jot"
A knock there was upon the door
And two men stood where one was before
He peered through the door and yelled "Go away!"
But more and more people turned up every day
As the days wore on the old man had
Been gradually becoming
ever so mad
Emotions were getting lost in the haze
Something unknown was caught in his gaze
A knock there was upon the door
The whole town was there to show their support
Out of bed he rose
barely awake
Familiar five knocks making him shake
Enraged and pulling out his hair
He forgot about the broken stair
One foot misplaced, his body up-ended
The ground arrived far quicker than intended
A knock there was upon the door
A knock there was upon the door
