Salzburg is the name of a state and city in Austria, near the German border.

The state of Salzburg is one of the country's smallest in terms of population, with an area of 7154 sq. km. and 520,000 inhabitants.

The city of Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is a home to some 145,000 inhabitants with nearly 70,000 more in its suburbs. The history of the city goes back to the Romans, who made gave the small town of Juvavum the status of a municipality in ca. 40 AD.
