ゆりかもめ

The Yurikamome (yoo-ree-kah-mo-may) is a fully automated railway that opened in 1995. It connects central Tokyo to Odaiba, a newly-developed artificial island in Tokyo Bay, across the Rainbow Bridge. It starts at Shinbashi and ends at Ariake, a 12km, 24-minute run. Fares range from ¥180 to ¥370, depending on how far you're going.

A number of attractions are located along the Yurikamome line, including the Ariake Colosseum, Fuji TV studios, Aqua City, the Venus Fort shopping mall, and Palette Town, an amusement park with the world's largest Ferris wheel. Many upscale hotels are scattered around the Yurikamome as well.

The stations on the line are:

The Shinbashi end connects to the Yamanote Line/Tokaido Line and the Tokyo subway's Ginza Line and Mita Line. The Ariake end connects to the Tokyo Waterfront Railway's Rinkai Line.

Yurikamome is also the Japanese name for the black-headed gull.
