Depending on the size of the company, could be either a very fun or suicide-inducingly
boring job. Large companies frequently have several DBAs, each with a different specialty. You may be hired as a
DBA and find yourself executing
DBCC commands all day and setting up
backups. In a small company,
on the other hand, the DBA may be something of a database-programming-manager, with authority to set and maintain
standards (including the use of a
cluestick).
Setting standards is more fun that it sounds, because you get to think up cool new stuff to do.
I guess you had to be there.
