MUD system written by
Alan Cox.
Inspired by the original MUD running at Essex University, the first version of Abermud grew out of the Honeyboard talker system, and ran on the central Honeywell timesharing system at Aberystwyth University.
Alan rewrote Abermud for UNIX, and a copy was posted to USENET on comp.sources.unix, from where it reached the Internet and inspired the creation of most of the MUD systems in existence today.
