Adam Clayton is the bassist with Irish rock band U2. He was born in 1960 in Oxfordshire, England and still retains traces of an English accent despite having moved with his family to Malahide, Co. Dublin at the age of 5.
He joined U2 while attending Mount Temple Secondary School in Dublin along with the other band members. He was in fact the band's first manager, a role now filled by Paul McGuinness.
Other than being part of U2, Adam is most famous for having been engaged to supermodel Naomi Campbell, and for a brief run-in with the law in 1989 when he was arrested for possessing a small amount of cannabis. He has a slightly eccentric image which he gamely sent up during the band's appearance on The Simpsons.
