Αλκων
A Cretan archer and companion of Heracles. His arrows never missed their mark: he could make them go through rings placed on a man's head and could split an arrow in half by striking a blade set up as a target. One day, when his son had been attacked by a snake, Alcon put an arrow through it, without hurting the child.
This latter story was also told about the father of Phalerus, one of the Argonauts. Phalerus' father, an Athenian, and a son of Erechtheus, was also called Alcon and the two heroes were frequently confused (see Table 11).
