Player Character Conversion

There are numerous occasions when you might want to bring an Alternity character into the Storyteller system, especially with alternity being discontinued :-(. You might have a Dark Matter character you'd love to have take part in your friend's World of Darkness game. Or you might have an SF character who you feel could be slipped into a game of Aeon/Trinity. There is always the possiblity of parallel universes ("Swirly thing Alert!")

Storyteller is used for a very wide range of games so I'm not going to go into the mechanics of converting magic systems or anything campaign specific (after all would your FX using PC be a Hedge Magician or an Awakened mage? Answer- largely depends what sourcebooks you've got and whether your Storyteller prefers Mage or Vampire or if you're going to be playing Trinity). If you want to add notes on such subjects you are more than welcome.

Core Stat Conversion

If you have Alternity scores over 16 I would advise making sure your Storyteller knows before springing your Demi-God PC on him.

Willpower: Storyteller Willpower is a special case. Look up your Alternity Will score on the following table to determine your Storyteller stat:

6-7=2
8=3
9=4
10=5
11-12=6
13=7
14=8
15=9
16+=10

Knowledges, Talents, Skills, Merits, Perks and Flaws

Most Alternity Skills should convert accross nicely. a +1 bonus from an Alternity Skill = 1 level in the equivilent Storyteller Skill, Knowledge or Talent. If you have an abnormaly high level in a skill, check with the Storyteller, you are not getting one over 5!.

Most general Non-Combat Skills have a Storyteller equivilent, if they don't there seems little harm in including them as additional 'new' skills.

Combat Skills present a more complicated picture. Combat skills translate to Storytelller abilities such as Melee and Firearms. Assume that a Broad Skill gives you 1 point of the relevent storyteller ability (eg Ranged Weapons, Modern grants you Firearms 1) only one Broad Skill Counts duplicates do not give you extra points. Work out the average of all the relevant specialities (ie. if you have Rifle 3, Pistol 2, SMG 1 you do (3+2+1)/3=2) and add the result. You can't get higher than 5.

Perks and Flaws translate directly to Merits and Flaws. Due to their nature must be taken on a case by case basis, but shouldn't pose a problem in most cases. A +1 Step translates OK to a +1 dice, though -1 dificulty might be more relevant in some cases. The Storyteller as always has the last word.

Equipment

For equipment simply look up the equivilent. If your Alternity character has a short sword that does d4w/d6w/d6+2w damage, then look up a short sword in a Storyteller book to discover that it now does Str+2 dice of damage. If there is no entry for your Nitashiwa Ninja Deathbringer then look up something that does a similar amount of damage. If you are still stuck, you'll just have to get the Storyteller to make a final ruling
