A nation in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting for Dungeons and Dragons

Amn is a nation towards the southern end of the Sword Coast. It is the setting for the events of the computer game, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. The country has a population of approximately 3 million, with a sizable number of halflings.

Amn is a merchant nation, and one where greed is commonplace. Arcane magic is heavily restricted within its boundaries, especially within Athkatla, and transgressors of this law are dealt with severly. The rulers of Amn are thought to be a council of powerful wizards, who wish to maintain a monopoly on magical power. Most religions are tolerated, however spell-casting priests are treated with suspicion.

Guilds are very strng within Amn, especially the Shadow Thieves, based in Athkatla. Other large cities include:

  • Crimmor
  • Eshpurta
  • Keczulla
  • Murann
  • Purskul
