Entering into it's 10th year now, Anime Expo is the largest
West Coast anime convention existing.
Hosted by the
Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (
SPJA), Anime Expo is the gathering place of thousands of fans and professionals in the
anime and
manga industry. Besides promoting
Japanese Animation to
Americans, Anime Expo also donates a large portion of it's proceeds to various
charities, most notably
City of Hope.
Anime Expo has the standard events found at an anime convention such as
movie theatres,
dealers room,
art auction and guest speakers including
Mari Iijima,
Kia Asamiya and
Noboru Ishiguro. Also included are forums on
Animation,
Voice Acting,
Manga Creation and
Mecha Construction.
With over 10,000 attendees expected for their 10th anniversary, the
2001 Anime Expo will be held at
Long Beach,
California.
