The
Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans is a book published each year comprised of various
poems written by
children in the 8-13 age range. Each school that wished to enter could send the top two or three submissions from their students in, and then the best of those from all the poems received appeared in the
anthology.
Think
Who's Who? but with
poetry instead of
biographies. Judging by the
crap I wrote when I was twelve that made it into the book (yes, that's right,
RimRod is a Published Author), I have a feeling they published almost all of the entries they received--and then made their
money by selling copies at outragous prices to all the authors' families. Much the same way
Who's Who? does, actually.
In other words, a very clever
scam (although totally
legal). My
family and I bought it
hook, line, and sinker, by the way.
